Step 2:
Place a large high-rimmed pan over medium-high heat.

Once hot, put in one tablespoon of olive oil and the diced onion.
Saute while mixing regularly for about 3 to 4 minutes just until lightly golden and start to become translucent.
Then add the minced or thinly sliced garlic.

Continue sauteing for 1 minute.
Mix it continuously to allow it to release its flavors and prevent burning.
Mix them until well combined.

Quickly taste the sauce and add seasoning.
you might also add sugar to balance the acidity.
Mix again then add the basil stems.
Give a quick mix and let it simmer.
Once its simmering, bring the heat to low while occasionally stirring for about 8 minutes.
Next, remove the basil stems.
Step 4:
Add the pasta straight from the water to the sauce.
Taste one more time and add seasoning if needed.
Once done, transfer to a plate then serve.
