Place the raspberries and sugar in a saucepan, then bring it to a boil.
Using an immersion blender, blend the raspberry mixture until smooth or to your liking.

Lightly grease a round cake pan, then transfer the cake mixture, and spread it out evenly.

Trim off the browned top, bottom as well as sides, then slice it through into two.
Add another layer of cake dough, then cover the whole cake with buttercream.
