Personally, I love white shoes a little dirty because super white shoes look too clean.
I know that sounds weird, but I dont like them super dirty either.
Its nice to clean your white shoes once in a while before it gets out of control.

Add laundry detergent to the water, and remove the laces from the shoe.
Let one of the shoes soak when working on the other.
Take the toothpaste, put it on the shoe, and scrub it in.
Dip it water if it gets dry, and spray with Oxiclean spray.
Submerge the shoes and laces in the bucket for 6 hours.

Honestly, laundry detergent and lots of scrubbing clean off my white shoes when Ive cleaned them before.
It depends on how dirty your white shoes are too for how long it will take.
