I had this very same problem with my gorgeous stainless steel pots and pans.
and I went searching on the internet for an answer to my dilemma.
For tough baked-on stains, you want to use Easy-Off Oven Cleaner.

The first recommended method id Barkeepers Friend.
The other method is to use Easy-Off Oven Cleaner.
Just spray it on and leave it for 20 minutes to one hour, then scrub vigorously and rinse.
This method works so well, I am so glad I found it!
