Make its edges look a little bit worn to give it a more authentic look.
To do this, using a cutter, chip it out around the edges.

Sand it down after.
Next, paint the wood using chalk paint.

Take the hairspray and coat the wood really well.
(see to it to coat it thickly.)
Next, put a coat of white acrylic paint, then spread it using a brush.
Let it completely dry.
Keep spraying and wiping off until the desired look.
