you might also make this same thing with vintage buttons to give them a totally different look.
Vintage buttons look especially good if you have Shabby Chic decor.

I saw a really cute rooster that would look darling in a kitchen!
Another cute project made out of buttons was a ladybug…and the list goes on and on.
