kick off the background fabric up, then give them a good press.

Sew them about 14 inch away from the line, trim, and press open.
Assemble and sew the pieces together.
Next, join the 2 sewn strips, and sew them together, then trim them off.
Sew the background fabric to the strip heart fabric, then press them open.
Repeat on the other side of the heart fabric.
