I love southern foods and this would be a good side dish to have with other meals.
It would be good to serve with cornbread and other meats.
This can be an entree that can be served by itself too.

This is one of the favorite side recipes that can get you full but still have the nutritions.
I love when meals are cooked in bacon grease because it adds all the flavor to the vegetables.
Plus since its made in one pot, all of the juices are mixed and infused into one.

Then, add the onions and garlic to saute for about 2 minutes.
Add the green beans, water, and chicken broth and bring to a light boil.

Next, once the green beans are cooked, add in the potatoes, and bacon.
Cover the beans and let them cook for another additional one hour, stirring occasionally.
Also, this can be made vegetarian if you dont make it with bacon, and use vegetable broth.
Plus, I love that this recipe is made with fresh ingredients instead of canned green beans.
