But confirm to leave the root end alone.
The last step is to peel the first layer of the onion.
Then grab the next layer.

Until you get to the remaining, softer layer of the onion.
you could now start cutting the onion.
The root ends will keep it all intact.
When you start chopping the onion across, the root end will also keep it in place.
So, cutting and chopping the onion will be so much easier.
Then, once youre done, you could now throw away the root end.
This is such a simple trick.
