Cut a 3 1/2 background square in half diagonally.

Next, mark the center of each cut side.

Get a 1 x 6 dark print and mark the center of each long side.

Match the center of one background triangle and one 1 x 6 and sew them together.

Then stitch the other triangle to the opposite side of the 1 x 6 piece, matching the centers.

Once done, press the seams toward the center.

Trim off the excess fabric and make it a 3 1/2 square.

Draw a diagonal line, making 2 half-square triangles.

Stitch 1/4 away from the line of both sides then cut along the drawn line to create half-square triangles.

Press the seam allowance toward the dark print and trim excess.

Repeat until you have a total of 4.

Step 3:

Arrange the pieces as shown below.

Stitch into rows, then stitch the rows together.

Press flat on one side.

The block should measure 9 1/2 Repeat until you have 5 leaf blocks.

It should measure 45 1/2.
