One classic recipe that I remember so well, would be the classic bananas foster.
Slice the peeled bananas in half lengthwise, then add them onto the sugar mixture.
Let it cook and gently stir often, until tender for about 4 minutes.

Pour the rum over the mixture and remove the saucepan or skillet from the heat.
Serve it immediately over a scoop of ice cream.
